Remember the people in need

Dear Editor:

Thank you so much to those of you who have donated to Lift-Up and thank you, Lift-Up, for being there for the community. You supply a great service for families in need. However, our country is not.

It is offseason, and my past paycheck was literally half as much as it normally is. After paying bills that were already overdue, I was left with only $12 to buy food for myself and my daughter. I went to Social Services to see about getting on food stamps, and, to my dismay, they said I made too much money for the month. Last I checked anything just over $1,500 is poverty in Aspen.

Please, do what can you to help those in need. Next time you’re shopping, buy that extra bag of groceries and donate it to Lift-Up. Without Lift-Up and your wonderful contributions my daughter and I would not have food. Thank you again.
