Witness says motorcycle, SUV collided

Staff report

A motorcyclist suffered serious injuries Saturday afternoon in an accident on Highway 82 east of Carbondale.

Colorado State Patrol Trooper Alisha Danko said the accident occurred at 1:49 p.m. at mile marker 14 when, according to a witness, an SUV turned left in front of the motorcycle, which was headed upvalley. The motorcycle caught fire.

The motorcyclist, a 50-year-old Glenwood Springs man, was taken for treatment and was reported as conscious and breathing at the scene.

The driver of the SUV, a 46-year-old Denver man, was issued a summons, Danko said, but she did not have further details.
