One dead in I-70 accident in Glenwood Springs
John Stroud / Post Independent |
Police have confirmed that one person was killed in a single-car accident on Interstate 70 through Glenwood on Friday morning.
The victim, the sole occupant of the SUV, has not yet been identified.
Glenwood Springs Police Chief Terry Wilson said the vehicle, which was towing a utility trailer, appears to be from outside the area.
According to Wilson, it was traveling westbound before it crossed the median and three lanes of eastbound I-70, glanced off of concrete abutment for the Devereux Road overpass, hit a tree, and came to rest upside-down on the shoulder.
Traffic was reduced to one lane but continued flowing while authorities investigated the scene.
