Recycle your computer clutter

Dear Editor:

This holiday season many people probably gave and received new computer equipment. Please keep in mind that your old computer equipment is filled with lead, cadmium, mercury, chromium and polyvinyl chlorides. It’s imperative that we work together to keep these hazardous materials out of our landfills and water supplies.

That’s why Blue Tent Marketing partnered with YouthEntity to ensure that old computers are either given a new lease on life by their student technicians, who are able to reuse about 85 percent of the materials they receive, or are safely recycled.

So bring your old computers, monitors, printers, faxes, laptops and batteries by Blue Tent World Headquarters, located at 218 E. Valley Road, Suite 205, right across from Movieland in El Jebel, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information about our computer recycling program, such as the cost per item, go to

By taking a few minutes to drop by Blue Tent, you’ll be supporting YouthEntity, a local nonprofit serving valley youth, while keeping your old computer equipment from becoming clutter, and keeping hazardous materials out of our local landfill.
