Reason to smile
Dear Editor:The Children’s Dental Fair held on Feb. 25 was a wonderful opportunity for our second-graders at Aspen Elementary School to learn about dental health. Cheri Grinnel of the Aspen Given Foundation has organized this event for the past several years and always does an exceptional job. Many dental health professionals volunteered time from their busy schedules to participate, and many others donated supplies for the fair. Our students were treated to a morning of fun and educational activities all designed to teach them about dental health. Each child’s teeth were screened by a dental health professional and a “report card” was completed for each child to take home to parents. The children received instruction on the correct way to clean and floss their teeth, and everyone got a goody bag of cool stuff, including a toothbrush and floss! We wanted everyone in our community to know about this wonderful event. Thanks again to Cheri and everyone involved in this year’s fair. We are looking forward to next year’s fair!Aspen Elementary School second-grade teachers:Betsy Ann AnastasRixt CliffordMimi HauensteinSusan McKellerDenise VetromileCasey White

The waitlist for infant childcare is currently 50 deep in Aspen, and babies who haven’t been conceived or born yet are on some of those lists. Aspen City Council is attempting to find solutions to address the crisis.
