Ready to tackle the issues

Dear Editor:

I am running for a seat on the Basalt Town Council and am making every effort to contact as many voters as possible either in person, by phone, or via e-mail. There are many new faces in Basalt so I’ve started a website that contains some of my views: If you would like to contact me by phone please call 948-5886.

People who know me know I’ve worked with different neighborhoods on various issues. I love it when people participate. Participating in community affairs can be time-consuming but people in Basalt seem happy to contribute when they are asked.

That citizen energy is why I believe I can be an effective councilor. It is all about working together to enhance community goals. Finding common ground is common sense.

I hope to never have to ask people to come to one of those crowded, contentious, intimidating meetings over some issue that is in crisis. That is my notion of a failure of the government. That is what gives politics a dirty name. If we work in a positive fashion and build on our successes it will be easier for more of us to participate. After all, politics is like yoga: We should practice it daily!
