Ralph LeRoy Chaney

Ralph LeRoy Chaney of New Castle died Jan. 12 at his home. He was 62.

Chaney was working as head of security at the Aspen-Pitkin County Airport at the time of his death.

He was born Aug. 28, 1936 in Omaha, Neb. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps, and moved to the Roaring Fork Valley seven-and-a-half years ago.



He was a member of the board of directors for New Castle Ambulance, a former member of the volunteer fire department in Parkdale, Ore., and was a firefighter and EMT for 20 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha. Survivors include sons Dan of Silt, Don of Edgewater, Colo., and Dennis of Fort Collins; and grandchildren Tai and Kestrel Chaney of Silt.




A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Apple Tree Community Church in New Castle. In lieu of flowers, send donations to the New Castle Ambulance Service, P.O. Box 9994, New Castle, CO 81647.
