Racist comments have no place in discourse

Dear Editor:

On behalf of the Pitkin County Republicans, I condemn in the strongest possible terms the derogatory comments reported in letters to the editor in the Aspen Daily News and The Aspen Times (“Blatant racism in Aspen” on Thursday and made by a person working at the Republican voter registration table at the Aspen Saturday Market.

These comments have no place in political or any other discourse. The individual involved has been asked to dissociate himself from the Republican efforts – which he has done. I hope we’ve heard the last of this deplorable language.

Frieda K. Wallison

Chairwoman, Pitkin County Republicans
