Quiznos Pro Challenge seeking 4,000 volunteers

DENVER – Organizers of the Quiznos Pro Challenge said Monday they need 4,000 volunteers for the international cycling competition to be held in August.

The event is expected to draw up to a million spectators for the seven-day, 600-mile race between 128 top cyclists Aug. 22 to Aug. 28.

The stage race starts in Colorado Springs and passes through Salida, Crested Butte/Mount Crested Butte, Gunnison, Aspen, Vail, Avon, Steamboat Springs, Breckenridge and Golden before the finish line in Denver.

Prospective volunteers can learn more about positions and apply online at http://www.quiznosprochallenge.com .

Volunteers younger than 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times, according to race officials.

“The support of the local communities and assistance from dedicated volunteers will be crucial to the success of the inaugural Quiznos Pro Challenge,” race general manager Ellen Kramer said in a statement. “We welcome the country’s biggest sports and cycling fans to Colorado to take an active role in this historic event.”
