Put up or shut up

Dear Editor:Terry Treadwell’s comments are racist, plain and simple (Aspen Times, May 4). No spin necessary. If the rich white people didn’t drive the prices up and force the rest of the white people downvalley, he wouldn’t have to worry about the Latino people who are working at the hospital. Since when do two people need to speak English in order to communicate? In fact, if two Latino people are forced to communicate to each other in something other than their first language, miscommunication could occur, something we can’t afford to happen at our hospital. If you’re so positive that Dave Ressler can find English-speaking workers, don’t you think he would have hired them? Latinos dictating policy? Come on, I don’t see Latinos dictating anything; I see humble workers looking to make a better living than they could from whence they came. What’s wrong with that?Let’s not forget that we are all human beings here, except of course Terry Treadwell. Put up or shut up, Terry: Go to the hospital and volunteer to be a dishwasher.Mike TreckerAspen
