Preserving some great runs

Dear Editor:I would just like to take a moment to thank the City Council for voting down the large development and the new chairlift to replace the 1A, aka Shadow Mountain Chair. I think it was a good idea to vote it down because my family has a tradition that we always finish the ski day going from Aztec to Corkscrew to Norway, and if they put this new chairlift in we probably would not be able to do this. The tradition started when my grandpa, who is also Max Marolt, grew up in Aspen. He loved to end the day on his favorite runs which were the ones stated above. Surely these are good runs if the first Olympian from Aspen liked them (Max Marolt). They have become the rest of our family’s favorite runs also. I would like to give a prodigious amount of my gratitude to Mick Ireland and the rest of the City Council for voting this down, I am sure all of my family agrees.P.S.: Try to make the town meetings shorter so that I do not have to go to bed before they end.Max Marolt, age 11Snowmass Village
