MESA, Colo. ” Bear sightings at the Powderhorn Resort forced the closure of one of the ski lifts for the remainder of the season.

Resort spokeswoman Sara Allen says the West End lift was closed and that the ski patrol was monitoring at least two bears in the area. She says the move is precautionary and that there is no danger to guests.

The resort is scheduled to close March 29.

Allen says resort officials want to minimize the impact on the bears’ environment. The resort is about 30 miles northeast of Grand Junction.
