GRAND JUNCTION ” Powderhorn Ski Resort ended its ski season Monday with the last lift ride at 4 p.m.

The slopes were set to close this weekend, but “consistent warm temperatures” forced the ski area’s operators to call it quits early, said Sarah Allen, Powderhorn marketing and sales director.

With the early closure, folks at Powderhorn plan to get an early jump on building new mountain biking trails and other improvements for the summer season.

The ski area is located on the Grand Mesa, outside of Grand Junction in western Colorado.
