Pork, Pinot & Patagonia coming to Carbondale

CARBONDALE – Carbondale’s 5Point Film Festival will present Pork, Pinot & Patagonia on Thursday at Six89 restaurant. The event will include a pork dinner, pinot noir wine, and a screening of “180 South,” a film related to the early adventures of Yvon Chouinard, founder of the outdoor-clothing manufacturer Patagonia.The event begins at 6 p.m. with a meal of pulled Berkshire pork sandwiches and coleslaw, prepared and served by Six89. (A limited number of other menu items will be available as well.) Along with the pinot noir, beers from New Belgium Brewing Co. will be poured.The evening concludes with a free presentation of “180 South,” screened on the outdoor back wall of Six89, beginning at 7:30 p.m. The environmental documentary follows outdoorsman Jeff Johnson as he retraces the trail trekked by Chouinard through South America in 1968. The film was a hit at last spring’s 5Point festival.The 3-year-old 5Point Film Festival was founded by Carbondale resident Julie Kennedy.
