Poll: When’s the best time for people watching in Aspen?

With the annual Food & Wine Classic now in the rearview, this week’s poll question asks readers about the best times for people-watching in Aspen.

Go to http://www.aspentimes.com, on the left side below the news carousel, to find this week’s question and the results of previous polls.

Last week’s poll question — “Where do you stand on the neighbors’ opposition to the new Aspen Brewing Co. brewery, Aspen 82 TV studio and an incubator workspace for the old art museum?” — brought in 1,189 votes.

More than 66 perecnt, or 790 votes, chose “It’s classic NIMBYism. This project deserves to move forward.” Another 31 percent, or 371 votes, said “They have a valid point because of their close proximity to the building.” The remaining 2 percent, or 28 votes, were undecided.

Early yearning: Need for pre-school education in Colorado has never been greater — and never harder to get for struggling families

Early childhood education has been proven to be a boon to both kids and their parents, but who can access it depends heavily on who can pay for it, and in Colorado demand outstrips the supply of child care facilities and workers. Since the grand days of a national push for pre-school through the Head Start Program, intentions have been good. Delivery hasn’t matched those intentions.
