Poll: Did Aspen police react appropriately during arrest of teen?

With controversy surrounding the arrest of a 16-year-old Aspen High School student earlier this month, this week’s poll question asks readers if the use of force by Aspen police in the arrest was appropriate.

Go to http://www.aspentimes.com, on the left side below the news carousel, to find this week’s question and the results of previous polls.

Last week’s poll question — “Do you support requiring voter approval for development variances?” — brought in 1,023 votes. The majority of voters — 564, or 55 percent — said “yes,” citing that local government can’t be trusted. Another 229 voters, or 22 percent, were “no” votes, noting that voters elected council members so they could vet each project and make the right decisions. Another 208 voters, or 20 percent, were “yes” votes, claiming that the council shouldn’t approve variances on its own. The remaining 22 votes, or 2 percent, were “I don’t know” votes.
