Poll: Are you optimistic about snowfall?

With a strong start to the ski season, this week’s poll question asks readers whether they’re optimistic about snowfall this winter.

Go to http://www.aspentimes.com, on the left side below the news carousel, to find this week’s question and the results of previous polls.

Last week’s poll question — “Has standardized testing in Colorado gone too far?” — brought in 1,083 votes. Nearly 800 total votes were “no” votes, with 395 votes (36.47 percent) saying testing is the only valid way to gauge academic progress and 381 votes (35.18 percent) saying testing is a reasonable part of the education process. The “yes” votes totaled just over 300, with 258 (23.82 percent) of those saying students spend more time preparing for tests than actually learning and the remaining 49 votes (4.52 percent) saying the test results aren’t used to make meaningful curriculum changes.
