Politics not driving hydro power debate

Dear Editor:

In response to Dan Del Campo’s letter (“What is Aspen thinking?” Dec. 28, The Aspen Times): I used to drive a Subaru, but my wife does drive a Prius. I now drive a Focus because the fuel economy is so much better.

If you were to read my letter you would notice that I do not feel hydro at any cost is acceptable. The idea that environmentalists want to ruin the economy is just as silly. Dan, conservatives and environmentalists have joined forces to oppose this hydro project in its developmental model.

Dan, if you do not think the activities of man have an effect on the climate, get your head out of the sand. Dan, it is your mentality of us versus them that is the ruin of this country. We all must work together to keep this country strong, balanced, respectful and a light upon the hill.

Forget your mentality of conflict and roll up your sleeves and join us who want a better future. Find the common good and work with those you feel are your enemies. We are not enemies. Where else do environmentalists and conservatives join together for a better town than in Aspen? We lead.

I welcome and invite you to join in and improve, and not devote energies to create divisiveness.
