Police looking into parking-lot death

Staff report

The death of a 23-year-old Snowmass Village man on Wednesday is under investigation, according to Art Smythe, the town’s police chief.

He was identified as Raymond Vieira, 23, a resident of the Creekside employee-housing complex in Snowmass. At 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to a report of an apparent suicide in the Creekside parking lot, Smythe said in a statement Thursday morning.

The Pitkin County Coroner’s Office and the Snowmass Village Police Department are investigating the incident jointly.

No other details were released by Smythe’s department Thursday. If the death is ruled a suicide, it will be the fourth so far this year in Pitkin County, according to official tallies.
