Police identify heart-attack victim

The 54-year-old woman who collapsed and died while riding a bicycle in Snowmass Village Monday has been identified as Janis Williams.

Williams, a part-time Snowmass Village resident, died as a result of a heart attack, an autopsy confirmed yesterday, according to Art Smythe, Snowmass Village police chief.

Williams was biking along Highline Road between the Snowmass Club entrance and Owl Creek Road when “she just collapsed and died,” Smythe said.

“No further investigation seems to be warranted at this time,” the police chief said of the circumstances surrounding Williams’ death.

Smythe said Williams also maintained residences in Texas and Florida.
