Plots still available at Basalt community garden

BASALT – Founders of the Basalt community garden at the new Grace-Shehi Park say there are still plenty of plots available for people who want to grow fruits and vegetables.

The fees are $40 for an 8-by-10-foot plot and $60 for an 8-by-15 plot. Each plot has its own water spigot. It is an organic garden, and all work – planting, weeding and cultivating – is performed by individual plot-owners. Plots must be cultivated by June 10.

The community garden is located near Basalt High School. A wildlife fence is erected around the entire garden, and members who are already enlisted mulched the walkways.

Plots are available to all valley residents; they need not be Basalt residents. To sign up for a plot, contact Gerry at 970-927-4629 or 970-927-4563.
