Playing with fire

Dear Editor:

What kind of a heli-ski guide says, “It could pop on any of us”? (“Aspen rider’s avalanche air bag helped her survive Alaska slide,” April 27, The Aspen Times).

I have heli-ed Valdez twice, both with Valdez Heli Ski Guides, once when Doug Combs owned it and once after he was killed. They are real pros, and they’d never say, “Hey, it could go, but let’s ski it, anyway.”

Onna Konicek is very lucky she is not a statistic. Total BS behavior out there – and the sad deal is that folks will read this article and think that an air bag might save them.

Onna was just dumb lucky – nothing else.
