Plastic bags not problem

Dear Editor:

I have followed with interest and amusement the plastic-bag issues in Aspen and now Carbondale. As much as I try to be conservative in my lifestyle, I feel this issue somewhat absurd.

The bag is not the issue – it’s every item in the bag that is the real problem. Every item in the bag of groceries I unpacked last night was contained in plastic or wrapped in plastic. The bag was the least of the offenders. I reuse the bags for garbage, to store rags, to wrap things I put in the freezer, to clean up after my dogs, etc. The rest of the plastic has no other value.

Seems we are trying to use an air freshener – not clean up what’s causing the smell.
