GYPSUM, Colo. – No one was injured Friday afternoon when a private plane skidded off the runway at the Eagle County Airport in Gypsum, according to county spokeswoman Kris Friel. The runway closed for two hours, delaying eight commercial flights, she said.

The private plane skidded off the end of the runway during takeoff around 12:25 p.m., Friel said. Officials do not yet know the cause of the aborted takeoff, she said.

Four passengers and three crew members were on board the Falcon plane, which was heading to Mexico, Friel said.

The Eagle County Airport Fire Department, Gypsum Fire Protection District, Western Eagle County Ambulance District, Eagle County Sheriff’s Office and Eagle County Airport Operations responded.
