Plane crashes near State Bridge

Vail Daily Staff
Wolcott, CO Colorado

A small plane crashed Monday in a remote area near State Bridge, authorities said.

The pilot was the only person on board, and he walked away without injury, said Kim Andree of the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash happened about 10 miles north of Wolcott, and the Sheriff’s Office is en route to the site, she said.

State Bridge is at the intersection of Highway 131 and the Colorado River, some 20 miles northwest of Vail. A historic lodge there burned down last summer, but cabins, yurts and a concert venue remain.

This story will be updated when more information becomes available.
