Pizzeria sued for rent

The owners of the Mill Street Plaza Building in Aspen filed suit against Merlin’s restaurant on Wednesday, claiming the establishment owes more than $24,000 in rent.Mill Street Plaza Associates LLC filed the suit in Pitkin County District Court against Merlin’s Aspen Inc. and owner Steve G. Brieske. The suit claims the business, located in the large brick building on the corner of Hopkins Avenue and Mill Street, has “failed and refused to pay” rent in the amount of $24,261.60. According to the suit, a notice to the owner demanding payment of rent was issued on March 15 and Mill Street Plaza Associates claims it still hasn’t received payment.The plaintiffs are seeking to evict the restaurant, payment of past rent and attorneys fees or court costs.
