Pitkin County real estate sales volume up 45% in November

ASPEN – The dollar volume of real estate sales in Pitkin County was up 45 percent in November compared to 2009, according to a report released by Land Title Guarantee Co. Thursday.

Sales totaled $118.44 million for the month in 2010 compared to $81.43 million in November 2009, the report showed. It was the best performance in November since prior to the recession, in 2006.

For the year-to-date through November, sales volume was nearly 15 percent higher than at the same point in 2009. Sales were at $1.14 billion through November 2010 compared to $991.31 million through November the prior year.



The number of real estate transactions continued to drop. They were down 8 percent in November compared to 2009. There were 66 transactions in November 2010 and 72 the prior year, according to Land Title Guarantee Co.’s report.

For the year-to-date through November, transactions were down 3 percent in 2010 – 622 compared to 642.




“The average single-family home sold price in Pitkin County totals $4,328,538 through November, a decrease of 12 percent from full year 2009,” Land Title Guarantee Co.’s report said. “The median single family home sold price in Pitkin County totals $3,175,000 through November, an increase of 1 percent from full year 2009.”
