Pitkin County calls out search for … nothing

Aspen Times Staff Report
Aspen, CO Colorado

ASPEN ” Eleven members of Mountain Rescue Aspen and three Pitkin County deputies combed the area all day Friday after a transient man was reported missing and possibly deceased.

By 7:30 p.m., however, Pitkin County investigators found the missing man alive and well.

“The person that was reported as missing we have spoken to and is fine,” said Pitkin County investigator Ron Ryan. “We are looking into other issues surrounding this incident.”

The search took place in parts of Pitkin County that are directly adjacent to Aspen.

Ryan would not release details such as the name of the person who reported the incident, nor the man officials were seeking.

“There are questions about how this got to this point in the first place,” said Ryan. “We’re still investigating. We do want it to get out to the homeless people who are concerned that this person is not deceased.”
