Earl Rodgers bravely launches over the bonfire to the crowd’s delight.

Tom and Ticia Zuccareno teamed up with friend Josh Behrman in hosting a pig roast in Old Snowmass on Sunday, Oct. 1. The trio timed the outdoor party right as it fell over peak weekend for fall foliage.

The hosts provided the pig, fish and beverages. Others brought the apps and snacks. There were several reasons to celebrate. The Zuccarenos marked their 10th wedding anniversary, Ticia Z. and Josh Behrman had birthdays, and businessman Tom Engelman hit the 10-year-date for his company, a la Car.

Kids and dogs roamed around the ranch while the talented Crowlin Ferlies and Lone Pine String Band performed bluegrass in the grass.

The highlight of the night came right after sundown. After much anticipation, Earl Rodgers of Woody Creek bravely launched over the bonfire with his mini-motorbike.Girlfriend Sue Snavlin recoiled, watching the ambitious feat: “I was a little nervous before he jumped, but it was beautifully executed,” she said afterward.

“That’s how Evil Kneivel probably got his start – jumping at parties,” Ryan Shorter guessed. “That was cool.”
