Pick up after Rover

Dear Editor:

While hiking the Ute Trail on Sunday, I noticed three huge piles of dog poop in the middle of the single track. I realize bad dog owners may not be in the majority; however, their self-absorbed attitudes are making it difficult not to encourage more trails be policed or made off-limits to dogs.

I am tired of the same old excuses for letting dogs poop on trails or leaving poop bags for pick-up on the master’s return trip. Whether you are local or visitor and think you and your dog are entitled to do what you want, if you don’t clean up after your dogs, don’t complain about the consequences. Aspen is a beautiful place, and if you can’t participate in keeping it that way, then you don’t belong here.
