PHOTOS: Annual Día de los Muertos Celebration returns to Carbondale
Organized by Carbondale Arts as part of First Friday, the annual Día de los Muertos Celebration returned to downtown Carbondale on Friday evening. The roughly 30-minute procession began at the Third Street Center and ended on Main Street.
Known in English as Day of the Dead, Día de los Muertos is a holiday observed mostly in Mexico that celebrates those who have passed on. In most cases, it’s meant to be festive, if not comical, in nature, as opposed to the more somber tones often related to death.
