Aspen resident Paul Kurkulis loads up some shoes in the Buttermilk ski area parking lot as part of The Great Valley Shoe Drive partnership with the Nashville-based nonprofit Soles4Souls. Kurkulis' goal is to collect at least 15,000 pairs of shoes over the next eight weeks. The second-hand footwear will then be donated to those suffering from poverty. "Why not empty out the closets and help out the needy?" Kurkulis said. For information, contact Kurkulis at 970-274-9553, or email
