Dick Piffer (left) and Monte Lutterman (right) cut the ribbon celebrating the grand opening of the new High Alpine lift on Snowmass. Aspen Skiing Co. went on with a champagne toast and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new High Alpine Chairlift even though the high-speed quad didn’t start turning Friday after high winds scoured conditions on the runs above. The lift, which accesses terrain in the Cirque, High Alpine and Hanging Valley Wall, will open when conditions allow.
