A bald eagle snacks on what appears to be a small mammal out on the ice at Hallam Lake last week. Bald eagles are often spotted around mid-morning at Hallam Lake, which is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aspen Center for Environmental Studies also hosts monthly bird outings for folks looking to exercise their birding skills. The next birding event is March 3. For more information, visit
