Petrosius: Feedback on the pickleball courts
I agree with Sam Louras about the wonderful new pickleball courts by the Rec center. I certainly hope the fabric canopy will last YEARS.
The contractors who did the concrete and court surfaces will be returning for warranty work, as there are cracks appearing and getting larger in width; in just the couple weeks, we have been enjoying them.
It is also disappointing that the sidelines are not the 5-ft minimum for fence or lighting according to internet info. Already folks have been hitting the fence with paddles and bodies. This could be considered a safety issue.
It’s too bad all the courts couldn’t have been widened by 8 ft to allow for a safer court experience and proper spacing from sideline to fences. The tennis courts have an amazing amount of sideline to fence clearance.
The response for court use has been really well received. With the courts being filled up, it would be nice have a couple temporary nets for use on the tennis court. Two courts could be placed on each end of the tennis court. There are times when no on shows for the tennis court. Maybe in spring sign ups will be in order.
It would also be a wonderful convenience to keep the porta potty near the courts and have a few benches, as well. The fall leaves have been an issue on the courts as well as the pine needles. A push broom or 2 would be nice, and the rec center staff blowing off the courts in the morning would be good.
The landscaping is looking really nice and will compliment the ambiance as it grows in. Even with adjustments to the new facility, we all will be enjoying for many years to come.
