Cowdog, Up!

ASPEN – Anne Elam’s photo of her dog, Sammy, titled “Cowdog, Up!” is the winner of The Aspen Times/Post Independent online pet photo contest.

The entry won with 66 votes. Top prize is a photo shoot for Sammy with photographer Ricardo Savi and a $200 gift certificate from RJ Paddywacks. In addition, Sammy will be featured on the cover of the Animal Rescue Foundation pet calendar, which should be available for purchase in November. Sammy, according to Elam, was “Tough Enough to Wear Pink” at the Carbondale Rodeo event of the same name, held in July, to benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

There were 235 submissions in the contest and a tie for second place. Receiving 40 votes each were the entries “Hiking in the Castle Creek Valley” submitted by Mike Husaluk and “Louie on Midway Pass” submitted by Greg Hanle.
