Paying the Chinese

Dear Editor:

Glenn K. Beaton bemoans our fiscal policies, with justification. Mark Steyn writes that the U.S. taxpayer will fund China’s entire People’s Liberation Army annual budget starting in 2015. America spends about 10 times as much on our defense as does China. While our defense budget is about $700 billion, our commie friends spend about $70 billion on the PLA.

Here’s the thing: Before the next presidential election for hope and change 3.0, Mr. and Mrs. American Wealth Transferers, in servicing our Sino friends’ debt, will fork over enough Yankee tax dollars to fund the world’s largest employer – the PLA. So when Taiwan is swallowed whole and keeping open the mercantile sea lanes of South Asia becomes “problematic,” we will have a collective duty to look up and admit, “We chose a certain lifestyle, but we did not pay our dues over decades.” We wanted multicultural democracy, and soon we’re going to get it – good and hard.
