Patrick Hayes, a longtime Roaring Fork Valley resident, died unexpectedly Oct. 31, 2010 in Naples, Fla.

Pat was born in Denver on Feb. 27, 1947. He attended college in Gunnison before his enlistment. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam war on the U.S.S. Coral Sea as an air-traffic controller. When discharged, he moved to Aspen in 1970.

Pat initially worked at the Aspen airport and the Grog Shop before beginning a decades-long career in the ready-mix concrete industry, rising to plant manager before his retirement.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 31 years, Samantha Hayes, a loving family and many friends.

Sam is extending an invitation to celebrate his life June 25, 2011 at the Pour House in Carbondale from 2-4 p.m. Bring your stories of this kind-hearted, fun-loving man and join her in remembering him.
