Passionate protectors of the forest

Dear Editor:I recently read an article titled: “Westerners: These are my public lands, partner.” Did you know that we have a group of concerned citizens and outdoor enthusiasts who are uniformed Forest Service volunteer wilderness rangers in the Aspen-Sopris Ranger District? We are the Forest Conservancy and are passionate about protecting our White River National Forest. With visitor use exploding and federal budgets for the Forest Service plummeting, this citizen action group has become the face of the forest, patrolling more than 30 trails located throughout the Roaring Fork River Valley. As champions of our forest, we protect, educate and inform visitors about the fragile forest resources. These are our public lands. We own them. The Forest Conservancy is the partner in protecting them. Learn how to join in our crusade at Marcia JohnsonExecutive directorForest ConservancyAspen
