Party poopers
Dear Editor:
I think this week’s action of the U.S. Forest Service on Independence Pass is indicative of the deep-seated problems that are prevalent in that organization. This is just another example of the Forest Service denying the American people a chance to enjoy its public lands.
It seems that the decision-makers are spring-loaded to say “no” to any opportunity for the public to enjoy the nation’s forest in the interest of excessive protectionism. The Forest Service really should take a look at its mission statement and re-read the “serving people” portion.
It seems to be forgotten at every decision point when it comes to us enjoying public lands!
