Party in the Meadow

Dear Editor:

What do live bluegrass, wood-fired pizza, and a meadow restoration project in the Maroon Creek Valley all have in common? You!

This Saturday, July 23, Wilderness Workshop is hosting its inaugural restoration project in Stein Meadow. We’re looking for volunteers to help pull weeds and restore the native plant community in Stein Meadow, at the confluence of East and West Maroon Creeks.

The project runs from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., and is followed by a party from 1 to 3 p.m. featuring pizza made on site, music and dancing by the Defiance Stringband, and a free prize drawing. All are welcome to attend the post-project party, which is being held this year in place of WW’s traditional annual Wilderness Picnic. Admission is free for project volunteers, and $10 for others.

Free parking and transportation will be provided from Aspen Highlands (there is no parking at the project site), and volunteers will also be provided with tools and training.
