Owner of Jimmy’s to open new restaurant in Aspen

Jimmy Yeager, who owns and operates Jimmy’s restaurant in Aspen, announced Friday that he has acquired the restaurant space on the Mill Street pedestrian mall formerly occupied by Pacifica.

Yeager posted on his Facebook page Friday that he had signed a short-term lease for the space, which is situated on the west side of the mall north of Wagner Park. According to the post, the new restaurant will have a “fresh and healthy” theme and is scheduled to open on or around June 16. Yeager confirmed by phone Friday that he would be taking over the space.

Pacifica, whose menu focused on seafood, occupied the space for about nine years until last fall. When it closed, owner Russell Hoffberger announced plans to reopen that December, following the fall tourism offseason. But in November, Hoffberger confirmed reports that he was trying to sell the restaurant’s assets and its lease, which was set to expire in December 2015, and that he did not plan to reopen.

Jimmy’s, a bar and restaurant on East Hopkins Avenue, specializes in American cuisine and has been open since 1997. The new Mill Street restaurant is yet to be named, according to Yeager’s Facebook post.

Pitkin County phone users need to start dialing all 10 digits in a number

As of Sunday, everyone in the 970 area code has to dial all 10 digits in a phone number. The change in Colorado is part of a national switch that will enable the national rollout of 988, which will be the National Suicide Hotline. That number will take callers to the National Suicide Prevention Hotline, which will go live July 16, 2022.
