Owl Creek Road shut down

Staff report
The Aspen Times
Aspen, CO Colorado

ASPEN – Owl Creek Road currently is closed to motorists Monday due to what the Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office is deeming a “mental health issue.”

The entire length of the road, which connects Highway 82 outside of Aspen to Snowmass Village, has been closed in both directions since approximately 7:35 a.m.

Alex Burchetta, spokesman for the Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office, said authorities are “trying to make contact” with a male resident who lives on Owl Creek Road. Burchetta said the man appears to be alone. He could not say whether the man is armed.

Burchetta said the Sheriff’s Office was first notified about the man on Sunday night.

Residents of Owl Creek Road are being detoured.
