Outside, Aspen a perfect match

Dear Editor:

On behalf of the Aspen Chamber Resort Association, I would like to sincerely thank everyone that made the inaugural Outside in Aspen weekend such a success. An incredible cast of characters contributed to a memorable weekend of adventure and camaraderie, from the participants that came to Aspen from locales across the country to the elite athletes – including world-class big-mountain skier Chris Davenport, Olympic gold medalist Tyler Hamilton, Everest climber and photographer Jake Norton, Everest climber Melissa Arnot and extreme kayaker Jesse Coombs.

ACRA was delighted to partner with Outside magazine in this event, and would like to thank our sponsors, including the city of Aspen, Eddie Bauer First Ascent, Bud Light, Kendall Jackson, The Little Nell, Aspen Television, KSNO, KUUR, and nonprofit partners Leave No Trace and Outward Bound – who spearheaded a trail restoration project at the Ute trail.

Thanks also goes to local outfitters, including Aspen Alpine Guides, Aspen Expeditions, Aspen Kayak Academy, Aspen Outfitting Co., Aspen Whitewater Rafting, Blazing Adventures, Taylor Creek Fly Fishing and Timberline Bike Tours. A huge thank-you to Debra Doyle, who handled the logistics and organization, Susan Cross, who volunteered her time and energy, Fitzgerald Landscaping, which provided flowers for the event, and everyone else who helped make it happen.

Looking forward, we are really excited to build on this year’s weekend. Being a hub for outdoor enthusiasts, Aspen is the perfect place to host a weekend of adventure, and we’re already planning for the second annual Outside in Aspen weekend next year.
