Outfitted: Gifts for gals
Outfitted
During Thanksgiving week, I started off my gift guides with ideas for the guys in your life (see the Nov. 27 edition of The Aspen Times.) Next are my recommendations for women.
Whether she’s cozied up to the fire, heading out of town for a long weekend, or getting gussied up for a night in Aspen town, below are some ideas for giving back to the ladies in your life. Keep in mind, I’ve recently seen almost all of these items on sale:
1. Eberjey Gisele Tencel Modal Long PJ Set
When it comes to gifts for ladies, you can’t go wrong with PJs. This set merges the classic men’s PJ silhouette with ultra-soft Tencel Modal fibers. Temperature regulating, machine washable, flattering, and one of the more comfortable sets I’ve tried, the Gisele is a no-fail gift that will be a hit. Available in multiple colors.
$148, Eberjey.com
2. Orvis Fair Isle T-Neck Sweater
Every winter, I try and get my mom a new sweater. She’s a monster knitter, so I try and get something that she wouldn’t buy or knit for herself. This beauty from Orvis is sure to be a hit with its cozy alpaca and wool fibers. It’s much softer than I anticipated, and it has an easy, relaxed fit for extra comfort. With its beautiful, traditional Scottish Fair Isle pattern, it’ll go straight to the top of her favorites.
$198, Orvis.com
3. Sherpani Meridian 22 inch Carry-on
Made by Boulder-based, all-women’s company Sherpani (the Nepalese term for a female Sherpa,) the Meridian is the perfect hard-sided carry-on for the jet-setter. Extra durable, this suitcase has an ultra-lightweight design, 360-degree spinner wheels, TSA-approved locking zippers and a two-inch expansion zipper. A purchase you can feel good about, Sherpani goes the extra mile to support women in both Boulder as well as Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, where the bags are made. Available in multiple colors.
$184, Sherpani.com
4. Bombas Holiday Calf Sock 4-Pack
New socks are a no-brainer when it comes to gifts. Especially if you’re struggling to find something for the hard-to-buy-for. My new favorite sock company, Bombas, has holiday 4-packs that make it easy to divvy out a pair to multiple stockings. Inspired by Fair Isle sweaters, these designs feel festive without seeming garish. Made with incredibly soft and durable Supima cotton, they have that quintessential Bombas fit with built-in arch support. Also available in single pairs.
$64, Bombas.com
5. Dyson Supersonic Nural Hair Dryer
A bit of a splurge, the Nural from Dyson is your regular hair dryer on steroids. With Nural sensors to automatically adjust airflow and temperature, the technology enhances shine and protects scalp health. I was skeptical about being able to tell a difference from normal dryers, but was pleasantly surprised. I especially appreciated the reduced heat during the drying process. Comes with several attachments for different hair types and styling.
$500 (but seems to be on sale in countless places during the holidays). Dyson.com
6. Manitobah Waterproof Snowy Owl Boot
Inspired by the stunning snowy owl, it’s unlikely she has anything like these in her closet. Adapted to withstand Canada’s frigid winters, the boots have a cozy sheepskin footbed and complete waterproofing to a height of 4 inches from the bottom and are rated to be warm down to -25 degrees Fahrenheit. With the addition of beadwork from Swampy Cree artist Rosary Spence, these boots are a statement piece harking back to Indigenous footwear traditions.
$250, Manitobah.com
7. Chappy Wrap Winter Wonderland Blanket
Almost like looking out our Aspen windows, the Winter Wonderland blanket features a scene of wintertime bliss with is mountainous ski scene. Made with Chappy Wrap’s notorious blend of cotton, acrylic, and polyester, the blanket is not only one of the coziest you’ll find but is also machine-washable, durable, and pill-resistant. It’s woven, not printed or dyed, with individual yarns that are twisted and fed into jacquard looms creating a uniquely soft weave.
$150, ChappyWrap.com
8. Pendleton Timberline Wool Coat
Designed as part of Pendleton’s “From the Archives” Collection, this coat is sure to not only be a treasure, but also an heirloom. Re-imagined with an updated fit, the USA-made coat is made with warm, blanket-weight Timberline jacquard fabric with precise pattern matching on the seams — something my seamstress mother will rave about. It features a button placket, patch front pockets and button-tab details at the cuffs. Like wearing a piece of Pendleton history, it’s a stunner that will impress for years to come.
$629, Pendleton-USA.com
