Out of her league

Dear Editor:

Well, the vice presidential debate is now over and if the Republicans want to win they won’t give Governor Palin another chance to speak. She clearly worked hard and did her homework and gave a feisty performance but I would have liked it better if she had answered the questions instead of delivering talking points when she was asked about things she hadn’t been coached on.

Senator Biden has never been one of my favorites but at least he answered the questions and gave specific solutions to specific problems even if I disagree with some of them.

Palin was wrong to criticize Biden for talking about the past mistakes made by this administration when what McCain proposes is more of the same no matter how many times he and Palin claim to be mavericks.

Can anybody seriously see this woefully unprepared young woman becoming the president of our country? McCain is now 72, and his recurring health problems concern me. There is a very real possibility that Palin would be required to take over.

This isn’t a TV movie about a local girl who makes good and kicks ass. This is real life, and much as we might admire what she has done in Alaska with its vast natural resources and small population, we are talking about a huge country with a large and diverse population, major problems and a dangerous and complicated world situation that requires diplomacy and finesse. After watching the debate I am more convinced than ever that she is out of her league.
