Dear Editor:A college friend who fought in Vietnam just wrote me the following:”Two parallels concern me now. One, our inability to prevent infiltration along Iraqi borders resembles the inability to stop infiltration along the Ho Chi Minh Trail. Two, our inability to train Iraqi personnel as security and military forces resembles our inability to train Vietnamese personnel for similar forces.”How long did the Vietnam War last? And did the United States gain anything by waging it? Can we believe those who say that if we pulled out of Iraq now there will be civil war? Or those that say if we don’t pull out, there won’t be civil war? After so many lies and errors of judgment, it’s impossible for me to trust any of the administration’s arguments. Ann MacLeodBasalt
