Our children need us

Dear Editor:

When is running lean no longer healthy? When it comes to our children and their educational opportunities.

The Aspen School District has been able to stave off the brunt of the economic downturn and its negative impact as it relates to the quality education offered in our K-12 programs. However, this is unsustainable, and those who are about to be impacted most are our children and, ultimately, our future. Take a moment to educate yourself before the crucial November ballot: Go to the Support Our Schools Locally website, http://www.support

ourschoolsaspen.com, or search for “Educate ZG” on YouTube to learn more.

City of Aspen voters are being asked to approve a 0.3 percent increase to the city sales tax for a four-year period to help offset severe state funding cuts. Please vote “yes” on 2B. Our children’s education is the greatest investment we can choose.
