Otto Sabbath Pagni Jr.

The Aspen Times
Aspen, CO Colorado

Otto Sabbath Pagni Jr. passed away on Feb. 29, 2012 at his home in Silt.

Otto visited the Roaring Fork Valley in the early 1960s. After seeing the beauty of the valley, coupled with his love for the outdoors, he moved his family from Chicago to Basalt.

He spent his career as a stone mason with his son, Tony Pagni. Their custom stone art adorns many homes in the Aspen area.

He was an active member of the Basalt Lions Club. He looked forward to his job of pancake flipper for the club. His great love of skiing and fly fishing kept him active in his later years.

In the 1990s, Otto moved to Silt to be closer to his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Pauline Pagni; sons Mark and Curtis Pagni; sister Dolores “Dolly” Hartmann; and ex-wife Bernice Pagni.

He is survived by two sons and one daughter, Tony and Sarah Pagni of New Castle and their children, Gunnar, Luke and Pilar; James Pagni of Salt Lake City, Utah and his children, Mark and James; and Valarie Pagni and Harold Mugford of Silt and their child, Amber.

He is missed by all.

Per Otto’s request, no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donation to the Basalt Lions Club, PO Box 602, Basalt, CO 81621.
