Options for hauling waste will be topic

Options for waste hauling will be the subject of discussion at Valley Resource Management’s December meeting.

Valley Resource Management (VRM) is a partnership coordinating solid waste management through responsible regional planning and educational programs. The meeting is scheduled for Dec. 9, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at Carbondale Town Hall.

Guest speakers will be Susie Gordon, manager of Fort Collins’ Solid Waste Reduction and Clean Air programs, and Bruce Philbrick, superintendent of the solid waste utility for the city of Loveland.

The program is a follow-up to issues raised at VRM’s fall conference. The speakers will present examples of innovative approaches to waste hauling and landfilling that are currently working in other regions.

VRM’s board of directors is accepting letters of interest concerning a vacancy on the board reserved for a representative from the private sector. Most Roaring Fork Valley city and county governments are currently represented on the board.

For more information, call the VRM office at 945-8643.

PMDs will be hatching now until late October. What other insect (besides tiny midges and baetis) offers trout and anglers more pleasure than a bug that hatches four or five months of the year?
